Thriller match of the century - India Vs Pakistan Twenty20 Final
What more could have one asked for on a day that took the entire Indian nation and Indians living abroad to go frenzied and fanatic over the scintillating win against Pakistan. These are the days that are hard to see and comeby and when there was one today everyone welcomed it with open hands. An India Pakistan match is always a special and world cup final between the arch rivals is furthermore a treat for the eyes to watch. It was a battle fought between composure and pressure, discipline and mistakes as Pakistan opted to choose pressure and mistake on their fateful day to succumb to wounds inflicted on them earlier in their innings.
I know that Misbah-ul-Haq can never forget this moment in his lifetime. This one bad shot selection will haunt his mind for the years to come. He could have been easily an another Javed Miandad strking one shot straight down the ground for a six to steal the victory from India. But thank god we didn't have one Chetan Sharma today bowling an awful over at the dead end but a composed Joginder Sharma giving India the victory. With 13 to win from the last over, Joginder Sharma started of with an awful wide. I know how much pressure he would have been through on those dying moments of the match. Harbhajan played safe hands by not opting to bowl the last over. Perhaps he didn't want to take the brunt of the blame had India lost to Pakistan. With 12 needed from 6 balls Joginder bowled a dot ball. The pressure was a tell tale on everyone's face, the players, spectators and fans glued to the TV sets across the world. What is Misbah going to do now? was the only thing that was running on everybody's mind. With Joginder running in to bowl his second ball of the over the pendulum swung in favour of Pakistan. Misbah hit a audacious six over the bowlers head and into the stands. Infocus were the Pakistan dug out where they had now started to smell the scent of the victory.
I was totally surprised by one of strange action by a Pakistani in the Pakistan camp.
He had closed his eyes and started to pray to Allah for Pakistan victory. I know Allah would have showered victory for pakistan had this guy prayed properly. Instead of praying by spreading out the hands open this guy prayed with closed hands in a traditional Hindu form. There came the Hindu God and showered his blessings on India.
Well I made that comment during the match on a lighter vein to ease the pressure that I had been through. The equation now reduced to 6 from 4 balls. With Joginder running in to bowl everybody got out of their seats as Misbah tried to scoop a full toss ball over the short fine leg. The ball didn't carry itself to the boundary but found itself a shelter in the safe hands of Sreesanth. As Sreesanth caught the ball the Indian fans in the stadium and across the world erupted. The Pakistanis couldn't believe what they had witnessed. Misbah was still on the pitch unable to come to terms on his shot selection. The Indian players were embracing and lying one over the other. Understandbly this was their first major world tournament after the ICC world cup debacle in West Indies and nothing less than victory for Indians could have brought a better end to this shorter version on one day cricket. With no traces of the big 3's Rahul, Sourav and Sachin India weren't expected to win this tournament but with the way Dhoni has led from the front it seems to be the dawn of new Indian cricket. The youth cricket played with passion.
Chak diya India!!!
