Twenty20 - IND Vs PAK - Thrilling win for India
On a day that witnessed a high drama in cricketing fraternity, India held on to their nerves by beating Pakistan 3-0 in the final bowl out of Twenty20 world championship league match after the two sides had levelled the scores resulting in a tie.
The Pakistani seamers who rocked the Indian top order earlier in the day couldn't knock out the stumps without the batsman covering them. Ahh!! That sounds funny. But India won the game in a more strategic way after choosing spinners for the final bowl out knowing that there was breeze blowing across the ground which could apparently cause some late swing.
India is known for bringing any match that is under their belt to a tensed situation which they followed today too as a rule written in their books. With 29 runs needed in the last two overs Dhoni gave the ball to Agarkar who is known as "Dhaarala Prabhu" (Generous God)for his generosity in giving runs to the opposition. On this day one was only praying for Agarkar not to deliver a no ball as that would mean a free hit to the batsman of the next delivery. Agarkar ended the over for 17 runs and Pak were left to achieve their target of 12 runs in 1 over. The final ball was given to the breakdancer (Sreesanth) who gave 11 runs in 4 balls as everyone thought that it was the end of India's hold and Pak were already home.
With 1 run needed from 2 balls, Sreesanth bowled a dot ball. The situation got tensed and the atmosphere was electrifying. Dhoni brought the fielders in to the 30 yards circle in a hope to avoid the final run from Misbah-ul-Haq bat. As Sreesanth bowled the last delivery,Misbah miscued a pull to Yuvraj at extra cover who gathered the ball quickly to throw it to Sreesanth.Sreesanth knocked of the bails in a flash and Misbah was short of his crease by inches and the match ended in a tie with the winner to be decided by bowl out. It was India who prevailed for the day.
Had the format of the bowl out been little different (with the batsman facing the bowler),I am sure India would have lost :-). It reminds me of one of the famous joke by Vivek "Yaarumey illatha kadaila yaaruku da tea aathara???" The cricket version of this joke is "Yaarumey aadatha pitchla yaaruku da bowl pannara?"
