108 Divya Desams - Spirtual Series

I hadn't written a single post on spirtualism and what else would be a better way to kick off the spirtual series by writing a commentary about the yem-perumaan and the divya desams where he resides and showers blessings to his disciples. I don't claim to be an expert in writing commentary about the 108 divya desams but I still hold my vaishnavite stamp as the key to adorn the lord with my words and entertain the readers of this blog with some interesting facts on these divya desams. I'll be covering one divya desam per post and each post will cover sthala-puranam(history of the temple), deity of the sthalam and the lord's power etc. I had referred to various online resources before writing this post and I encourage the readers to correct me wherever I go wrong.

In sri vaishanavam, divya desam is a temple whose perumal has been sung about by atleast one aazhvaars(saints). This is called "Mangalasaasanam". The mangalasaasanam of these aazhvaars are compiled into one volume called "Naalaayira Dhivya Prabandam".
Among the twelve aazhvaars, only 11 composed hymns on the 108 Divya desams. Poykaiaazhvaar composed hymns on 6 Divya desam, boothathaazhvaar on 13, peyaazhvaar on 15, thirumazhisai aazhvaar on 17, nammaazhvaar on 37, kulasekaraazhvaar on 9, periyaazhvaar on 18, Sri Andaal on 11 and thondaradip podiyaazhvaar on 1, respectively. Madhurakavi aazhvaar glorified Nammaazhvaar in his hymns.

Srimann Narayanan is found in various thirukolam(postures).
Kidantha Thirukkolam (Sleeping Position ) - 27 Divyadesams
Veetrirundha Thirukkolam (Sitting Position ) - 21 Divyadesams
Nindra Thirukkolam ( Standing Position ) - 60 Divyadesams

The following are the 108 Divya Desams. 105 of them are found in India, 1 in Nepal and the rest two are vaikuntam and thirupaar kadal (the holy abode where Vishnu resides).

That said I dedicate all these work that I am going to compile to the yemperumaan and I pray that there shall be peace and prosperity in this world.
